Setting:
Living room. Candles are half-burnt. Chick-fil-A bag on the table. She’s in a silk robe. He’s on the couch in basketball shorts with one sock on. Tension thick like expired honey.

INT. LIVING ROOM – NIGHT

HER:
So let me get this straight…
You mad at me because I posted my wins?
That’s not “shading you,” baby — that’s me surviving!

HIM:
Nah, it’s the way you be doing it.
Caption talkin’ bout “Heavy on the self-made.”
You wasn’t self-made when I let you drive my car to your interview!

HER:
That 2004 Nissan?! Sir, the car was made before I was!
I almost didn’t make it to the interview from the loud-ass engine alone.

HIM:
Still got you there tho.

HER:
Barely! I had to pray in three languages, text my ex for Uber money, and hope the brakes worked!

(beat)

HIM (quietly):
You texted your ex?

HER:
Oh NOW you care?

(Long stare. Tension. Then… laughter.)

HER:
You know I only did that to make you jealous.

HIM:
It worked. I’ve been drinking tap water in silence ever since.

HER (smiling):
So we done arguing?

HIM:
Only if you come sit on my lap and tell me I’m still the man of the house… even if your name on the lease.

HER (sits down):
Boy shut up and kiss me before I post a “single” meme.
